As office design experts based in Barnet, Thames Contracts have more than 25 years’ experience of serving customers in the surrounding district, as well as across London and Hertfordshire. We provide a complete range of office design services to cater for individual requirements from space planning to office redesign, refurbishment, and complete office fitouts, where we manage entire projects from start to finish.
The case studies and galleries section on our website is a good representation of our design expertise and versatility, and it shows photographs displaying the range of work we have completed. Among our many clients is a London film company, where we were able to create a brand new office within existing offices. We also designed and installed 5,000ft contemporary, state-of-the-art offices on one floor of a new building for a Watford based financial services firm.
We keep up-to-date with all the latest design trends and can advise you on how to maximise your existing space to improve staff productivity and to make the best possible impression on your clients. Each of our projects is tailored to the needs of the individual business, and our clients are consulted at every step of the way.
The first step in the process is a site visit, where we discuss with you the issues that need to be addressed. This may include the need for noise reduction, better lighting, more storage, new branding, and/or the creation of new facilities for expansion, such as staff washrooms, breakout zones, offices, board rooms and conference areas. We will then draw up computer visuals, incorporating the areas that need to be included and agree a timescale and budget with you. Once agreed, we will manage the whole fitout, from removing fixtures to installing new facilities, fittings and furniture, to turn the design into reality.
If you need expert advice on office design, contact Thames Contracts, Barnet. We make the whole process as easy as possible for you. We can come out to you, look at your workplace and give a free initial consultation.
Barnet in the Spotlight
Barnet is adjacent to the London boroughs of Enfield, Harrow, Brent, Camden, and Haringey, and also borders Hertfordshire. It is a fast-growing borough with more than a third of a million residents. The population increased rapidly between 2001 and 2011, as more housing was built, and it gained a reputation as an attractive place to live and work with plenty of green spaces, appealing Edwardian and Victorian suburbs, reputable schools and excellent infrastructure. The population is set to increase further over the coming years, as Barnet is projected to outgrow Croydon and become the London borough with the highest population.
Recent years have seen new housing being built in Brent Cross, Golders Green and Colindale, which is expected to see a massive 50 per cent population growth as a result of the regeneration of Grahame Park, Barnet’s largest housing estate. A significant number of new school places have been provided and further infrastructure improvements are set to be made, with a new station projected to be built at Brent Cross Cricklewood.
Employment and Skills
Barnet is an affluent borough, with the proportion of the population who are employed higher than average for both London and the UK. Wages are also above the average here, and the majority of employees who live in the borough have taken up posts as managers or directors, or work in professional occupations. As a result, statistics show that inhabitants have been educated to a higher than average skill level.
It is a forward-thinking borough that has seen a number of small businesses springing up in areas such as construction, information technology and marketing. Among the many reasons for this are the borough’s excellent road and rail links, as it lies close to the M1 and is only 30 minutes from central London by tube. Many of the businesses are owned by people who live in the borough, with as much as 40 per cent owned locally. Brent Cross and Cricklewood are regarded as a business hub, attracting national and international firms. Consequently, demand for office space in Barnet is high, as it is all over London.
The major employers in the area include Brent Cross shopping centre and Middlesex University, with its main campus at Hendon. The university has 21,000 students, and its business school is regarded as a ‘centre of excellence’, which is likely to further improve business development in the area.
