Interior glass walls and partitioning are in demand as part of up-to-date office designs in London. Glass gives a look of high-end design and also maximises light within an office. It is durable, won’t go out of fashion and will fit in with changes to your décor in future. What’s more, it is also a cost-effective choice, since glass can be installed quickly without the need for major structural works.
As office design and build professionals, Thames Contracts has many years of expertise in installing glass partitioning and walls within a wide range of workplaces. We give a personal service tailored to the demands of your particular business, all at a competitive price.
Glass Walls
Frameless walls made from glass are one of the most popular design choices for offices in and around the capital. One reason for the popularity of this type of wall in the London area is that it creates a sophisticated and striking appearance, even more so than glass partitions.
Thames installed glass walls at the offices of the finance company Clermont Trust in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, helping to transform the look of the building’s interior. The walls from floor to ceiling gave a modern, streamlined look and, together with white doors and ceilings, maximised the use of available light within the building, reflected from a panoramic wall. This project included an open-plan working area as well as a boardroom and private offices.
Martin Chesler of Clermont said the company had called Thames after being pleased with a previous project, and commented that he was “delighted” with the service, the standard of work and the “attention to detail”.
The frameless walls we install come in thicknesses ranging from 10mm to 12mm. It is possible to choose either single or double-glazed walls, depending on what level of sound-proofing is needed. Walls can be complemented either by frameless glass doors or by veneer doors in a choice of finishes, such as ash, oak and maple.
Glass Partitioning
The glass office partitioning we install is 30% cheaper than frameless walls and is available in a number of options. You can choose white or silver frames, either with glazed sections or a 50/50 mix, with a solid lower half and glass at the top.
Completely solid office partitions are another alternative which Thames can also install. Again, a choice of doors is available to install together with partitions, including a range of veneer finishes.
Advantages of Glass in an Office Design
One of the main advantages of glass in terms of interior design is that it reflects daylight from windows and helps to give a feeling of space. Installing glass panels or walls can break up an open-plan area effectively without making it feel cramped or as if it has been turned into a series of small rooms. This improves working conditions and helps to create a feeling of well-being.
Using glass also maintains sight lines, allowing staff to see what colleagues are doing in another area of the workspace. There is evidence that this improves communication within offices, because people are less likely to feel nervous about knocking on a door when they can see the staff on the other side.
Another advantage of glass is its high adaptability. For instance, if you usually want staff to be able to see one another, but may occasionally want to use an area behind glass for a private meeting, it is easy to include privacy options. You can either choose built-in blinds or opt for switchable glass partitioning, which can be made opaque by means of a switch as and when needed.
Installing glass office partitions or walls is cost-effective not only because glass is quick to install, but also because, in the longer term, glass does not require a lot of maintenance. It is easy to clean, doesn’t go out of style, and will still tone in well if you decide to change the colour of your walls and carpets in the future.
Using glass also offers a lot of scope for branding. If glass manifestation is needed on your panelling for safety reasons, you can choose from many different frosting designs and incorporate your company’s logos, designs or colours as you choose. Thames offers manifestation as part of our service.
